1. Why would you need Satellite anti-theft system, if it is possible to insure a car?

Answer:

Firstly, with robbery on a car insurance policy does not save lives. Less dangerous situation if the driver thrown from the car and car thiefs leave. Worse if the driver is left hostage. Here only algorithm of actions and capabilities of our systems will allow to solve this situation, and to organize detention of the vehicle with maximum safety for the lives of the hostages.

Secondly, insurance reimburses you for loss minus franchise risk "theft", which is equal to 5-10% of the insured value of the car. There are zero deductible on the risk of "theft", but it is marketing ploy of the most weak insurance companies on the market in order to attract customers, large insurance companies pretty much never use a zero deductible for hijackings.

Then you buy a new car and insure it again, it is 5-7% of the cost of the car, 3% of the cost of cars without VAT to the pension fund, plus transport fee etc. If we add up all this plus unpaid franchise on risk of "theft", you get a sum many times greater than the cost of the satellite system. There is one caveat, when buying your next unplanned car there might not be your desired option and you'll have to wait, sometimes even for a few months in addition to all the expences you'll have to go through. And all these hassles and expenses can be avoided if you install our satellite protection. Vehicle simply will not start, and attempts to make it run will end up in detentioning hijackers.

Thirdly, the trend of thefts in the last 5 years in Ukraine is as follows: for example a car stolen in Kyiv after 1,5-2 months appears in St. Petersburg with all the original numbers body and engine. The car after all this time had been resold several times in different regions and finally appears in St. Petersburg for an honest third or fourth customer.

In such a situation, since the vehicle is found, the Ukrainian authorities can not close the case without returning of the stolen car or a letter from the Russian prosecutor's office. Return the car is almost impossible since the last Russian owner will immediately submit to the court in the case of proceedings against him or the car. A letter to Russian Prosecutor's Office will do its best to postpone or never give it to close the case, since the provision of such messages indirectly confirms the involvement of Russian authorities to the legalization of stolen vehicles. You begin many years of litigation. And most importantly, that all this time the insurer has not come to you because of financial obligations, not closed the criminal case, and you are without a car and without insurance. Bottom line there's no need to go through all this trouble if you install car security Polaris Satellite. If someone tries to attempt to hijack, the system will send a signal ALARM to the operator. Locked car will not budge, and persistent attempts will only end up with a hijacker meeting with the police.

Fourthly, satellite security and insurance are not alternatives to each other, it's unnecessary to oppose them. It is good to have the correct both of these products.

2. Why install expensive satellite anti-theft system, if you can install cheaper signaling system with key pager and it will report all emergency situations with the machine?

Answer:

Alarm system with pager is a mass product and is well studied by hijackers. In the case of alarm going on owner has to respond to the alarms, call the police or to flee to the vehicle prevent hijacking. Going to a car by yourself hoping that you won't be noticed and thieves would flee at once is not wise. Since they do not always do it, especially when they outnumber you, they are armed and there're no witnesses. And why escape, if in 99% of these cases the owner is running to them having the car keys in his pocket.

It takes an average of up to 5 minutes to hijack a car using a codegrabber, and you can simply not have time to stop hijacking yourself.

Polaris Satellite Equipment is not a mass product that can be purchased at any auto store or auto-market. It is uniquely designed and manufactured by us especially for premium cars and is only sold in authorized Car Dealerships. Regular updating of software and hardware systems to counter new high-tech theft methods gives our customers an up to date protection service for the vehicle. With the satellite system there's no need for you to be engaged in the protection of your personal car. It's a job for our system and 24h control center which will receive all alarms and notifications from the car and will remotely control and protect the car.

Of course, a panacea for theft does not exist. But its not reasonable to leave your car anywhere and hope for the security system. Better safe than sorry.

As for the high cost of satellite systems. If you study the issue of protection of the car, you can encounter the opinion that the owners for efficient protection of the car should use 5-10% of its value.

3. Satellite anti-theft system can be "drown out" with a special device overwhelming cellular operators frequency, how will the car be protected in this situation?

Answer:

Jammers are the "achilles heel" of any operating electronics with radio waves, including satellite security systems. Therefore, all Polaris Satellite systems have anti-jammers, a device that detects an attempt to jam the signal and transmits the "alarm" signal to the control center. The key difference from conventional satellite alarm key notifiers is that it uses combined satellite GPS constellation and the GSM standard through which the alarm is transmitted to the control center. Therefore, if the satellite system is not protected against "jamming" it becomes vulnerable, loses its conceptual meaning, it can be inexpensive but in fact it would be just a common alarm.

4. The car could be placed in a special cargo vehicle with made out of lead walls that do not let radio emission. How satellite anti-theft system protects against theft in this case?

Answer:

The car under the protection of Polaris Satellite can not move from the place without authorization. For the car to get into the van it is necessary to lift, swing or tilt it. Either way our system has a digital sensor "tilt-roll" which responds to changes in position of the car in the space, so when you try to load a car on anything with car locked there will be "alarm" signal from this sensor. If the hijackers try to jamm signal, the system will recognize that and send an "anti-jammer" signal.

The very question is often asked by the car owners after they've read articles written by journalists with creative imagination on satellite alarms, rather than the real facts and situation.

Firstly, any truck with a van always has a chance of being stopped by traffic police patrol, especially at night. Secondly, what should be the thickness and weight of lead sheets so that they guaranteed did not pass GSM connection? Thirdly, the cost of producing such a van would be so high and so unlikely to compensate for the revenue from the stolen car thieves, unless they came to steal something exclusive like Maybach, Pagani Zonda or a Bugatti Veyron. Especially because there nearby might be a car without a satellite system for which the theft will need much less money, time and effort.

5. When the vehicle equipped with satellite anti-theft system is located in the underground parking, is it still visible to an operator from a Dispatch Center?

Answer:

If it is underground parking, most likely that satellites will not be visible to car, but will operate GSM communication on which the operator will receive alarm (without geographical coordinates of the vehicle) and will send a blocking command. There are car parks, where even GSM communication is not functioning properly. In this case alarms that occur during this period are recorded in the black box system and the moment network appears it will instantly send information to the control center. As a rule, underground parking are always protected.

6. Why is there any need for a satellite anti-theft system, if the car is always with the driver or a guard?

Answer:

It is unfortunately widespread stereotype attitude towards the protection of vehicle owners with personal guard, and it is unfounded, because the amount of personal protection is a lot higher than the cost of satellite systems. But this attitude to not install additional alarms on the car hijackers are well aware and take advantage of this. They keep track of such a machine for several days, waiting for the moment when the guards leave the car at least for a few minutes, and with no problem breaking into the factory immobilizer quickly leave. The bottom line is that much easier for thieves to steal such a car rather than the one standing alone in a dark alley without a bodyguard, but stuffed with the satellite system and other safety devices.

7. What to do with a satellite anti-theft system in case you're selling a car?

Answer:

The nominal life of the Polaris Satellite System Device is about 10 years, so it's not necessarily to sell it together with a car. Our specialist at a convenient time for you can dismantle the equipment from the old car and install it into your new to continue with the service.

8. What is audio control? My conversations in the car are going to be monitored?

Answer:

Satellite anti-theft system "Polaris Satellite" is using in its equipment SIM-card of one of the mobile operators. Users on your system can request to receive a detailed report on the SIM-card installed in his car with the specified date, time and duration of a voice channel connection.

With audio surveillance inside the car owner always has the opportunity to learn what is happening in it.

For example, while in a supermarket or a theater, there is no need to run to the vehicle in case volume sensor will go off. You can ask operator to listen a car salon using the microphone, since "drawdowns" may come from the shrunken on the hood near the windshield of a bird or cat for example.

Audio-control is used to obtain more information about what is happening inside the vehicle at the time of theft. Especially it is useful if the theft is committed by means of robbery, which resulted in the car owner to become a hostage. It is no secret that sometimes to take possession of the car, the hijackers may resort to armed assault on the driver.

If the vehicle is "ordered", criminals do not always want to spend time and energy on overcoming the complex security system. You can just walk up to the driver at the time when he is leaving or getting into a car and threatened him with weapons and pick up the car keys. As a rule, the affected driver is taken by hijackers so that he wouldn't immediately report the authorities. This is typically done by group of people, and especially if there's a woman behind the wheel.

From that moment for the vehicle owner who became hostage events can begin to develop unpredictably. Audio Monitoring allows you to understand whether it was an ordinary hijacking or another, if there's a hostage-taking and pass relevant information to law enforcement authorities.

Without such a system you can no matter how much money would other security system cost, or how persuasive or eloquent salesmen can be about their merits and protection systems it doesn't matter. If the system is placed on the car with no audio surveillance in salon and possibility for dispatching center to use it, this system will never be able to help car owners caught in the situation described above.

10. Satellite anti-theft system for its operation requires the services of GSM-operators. Consequently, when the latter have problems with communication, such as areas where there is no coating; unstable reception area signal; overloaded communication channels; possible technical malfunctions that lead to the disruption of communication, etc., may be an increased likelihood of theft of the vehicle. Are there alternative ways of transferring information from the vehicle to the Dispatch Center?

Answer:

Use of GSM-communication by satellite security operators over the years has shown to be highly effective.

Coverage of inhabited territory by GSM-operators is very high and the quality of their work is constantly improving.

The high probability of theft exists mainly in large cities, where it is difficult to find the car in a dense housing. In the cities it is easier to find a place in a large number of cooperative garages, for "settling" of the car until it will look. As a rule, all the city is well "covered GSM-communication.

Technology allows you to establish a satellite anti-theft system with alarm transmission via satellite, but it will lead to a significant increase in the cost both equipment and services. In addition, the satellite is unlikely to be more efficient than GSM because of the poor performance of the premises. There are other communication standards, but at the present time they can not be applied to the protection of vehicles due to the limited coverage area. Perhaps in the future there will be widespread use of mobile communication standards of efficiency and quality of existing ones.

11. It is believed that anti-satellite system run car battery out quickly.

Answer:

Everybody who owns a mobile phone knows that in the device there are two modes of energy consumption: standby and talk mode. And no surprise that even when the phone is not used but simply turned on, the battery in it is still running out. Phone constantly needs energy to find "network", the so-called standby mode.

The same principle is used in the equipment in satellite anti-theft system installed in the vehicle. Only the standby mode it has access to both: its own battery system and the vehicle's battery.

If the vehicle hasn't been in use for a long time the battery in it is still getting discharged, especially in today's luxury cars with lots of different power-consuming devices such as air suspension, automatic "lifting" doors, "swapping" of fuel and brake fluid, auto polling onboard power etc.

In the onboard battery for charging there are only two power sources: an engine (CAUTION: operating at the speed not lower than 1500 - 2000 rev / min) and an external charger. Car manufacturers recommend charging battery not less than once a month, if the vehicle is not in use.

To that satellite alarm system "Polaris Satellite" adds consumption of energy from 50 to 120 mA (depending on system configuration) that allows you to safely have the car in even two - three weeks 'downtime'. To date, this is the best indicator of the market.

And most importantly, all Polaris Satellite systems have an intelligent mode "energy manager" which allows to protect the battery charge to be able to start the car engine after 5 - 7 weeks of inactivity (depending on the system configuration).
